Rod Klein is a digital artist, photographer, videographer, web designer, and writer. Earning a Master of Fine Arts Degree in photography and video from UCLA Rod also studied at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles.
Before becoming a PADI Instructor in 1992, Rod worked in the television industry as an editor, graphics designer, and director. Rod has specialized in “digital photography” since the first digital still cameras were introduced and currently shoots a Nikon D2X digital SLR.
Rod’s work as been published in a number of magazines including Scuba Diving Magazine (US), Sport Diver (US), Asian Diver, Scuba Diver AustralAsia, Sport Diving Australia and Fathoms Magazine. Rod is the former digital editor for Fathoms Magazine and currently is Contributing Editor for Sport Diving Australia.
In addition, Rod conducts digital workshops at various resorts and liveboards: these have included a number of Aggressor vessels, Kungkungan Bay Resort, N. Sulawesi, Ocean Rover, Thailand, and will be conducting back to back workshops on the world renowned Nai’a Liveaboard in Fiji, February 2007.
In 2006, Rod taught an advanced Photoshop Workshop at Beneath The Sea Dive Show held in NY, was a speaker and judge at Celebrate The Sea in Singapore, and was a judge at the Asian Diver Photo Contest in Layang-Layang, Malaysia.
Rod has been a dive instructor at Club Med Villages in the Turks & Caicos Islands and Cancun Mexico. He also worked as a dive guide and instructor in Kona, Hawaii for 5 years.
Now, almost 3000 dives later, Rod has married is fine art, design, and television background with his diving skills and designs websites for dive operators, and writes articles and shots images for dive and travel related companies.
Rod is single, lives in Venice Beach, California with his border collie, Angie.
